Impromptu Speaking Test Checklist

Use an impromptu speaking test checklist to score topic relevance, duration, fillers, pace, structure and clarity.

Check the topic first

A strong answer must address the exact question. If it drifts, even fluent English will not score well.

Use enough time

A 60-second answer should usually use at least 45 seconds. Very short answers are hard to judge.

Score structure and delivery

Look at PREP structure, filler count, pace, clarity and whether the ending lands.
